Looking at the patch notes we see 6 items are used to change the colour of your chocobos plumage. Before jumping in and growing all the things we can work out what items you use to get that majestic as fuck coloured chocobo you'v always wanted.

To do this we look at the colour on a RGB scale, starting from full red and green with no blue to make yellow. This will be a quick guide to what fruit to grow in advance. Please not as we have just got this information it is unknown how many feeds it would take blue to go from 0 to 255, always we can probably assume each feed would be about 50 so I'll guess at 5 feeds for the moment.

The 6 items are as follows

Darkens

Xelphatol Apple - Red

Mamook Pear - Green

O'ghomoro Berries - Blue

Lightens

Doman Plum - Red

Valfruit - Green

Ciedalaes Pineapple - Blue

Also remember the Han Lemon resets your chocobo to yellow, this could come useful in some situations. These calculations are from the Desert Yellow sRGB (224, 189, 101). These are just the extremes which work as a good base point, anything in between can be worked out from these points once we have more information.

Chocobo Colours

Red

Valfruit ------ Xelphatol Apple ------ Ciedalaes Pineapple

Green

Doman Plum ------ Mamook Pear ------ Ciedalaes Pineapple (Remove Blue Hue)

Pink

O'Ghomoro Berries ------ Valfruit ------ Xelphatol Apple

Blue

O'Ghomoro Berries ------ Valfruit ------ Doman Plum

White

Doman Plum ------ Valfruit ------ Ciedalaes Pineapple

Black

O'Ghomoro Berries ------ Xelphatol Apple ------ Mamook Pear

As of the time of writing it is unclear if black and white are correct and it may be the case that they are the wrong way round. I.E. if you used the formula to create white you'd end up with black

As we gather more information I will continue to update this thread.

Edit Should mention that this conclusion was come to using the RGB scale on photoshop, there is a chance this could be backwards but we'll see soon enough.

2nd Edit The base colour is actually Desert Yellow, this is sRGB (224, 189, 101). Thanks Nakomaru for the heads up. Also Formatting

3rd Edit It appears we may have a translation error with Doman plums and they may instead lighten blue rather than red. Take this with a grain of salt at the moment. More info can be found on this post. http://www.reddit.com/r/ffxiv/comments/2e106j/possible_translation_error_in_the_new_chocobo/

Carpenter has a really useful skill at Level 15 called Rumination. It transforms your stack of Inner Quiet to CP. Max CP that you can get from it is 60 CP at 10 IQ (Inner Quiet) Stack.

This is a general info that everyone knows. The reason I decided to create this thread is the fact that I find people writing off this skill for some reason. People don't like to reset their IQ stack and to be honest that's also what I thought at first. Then, after changing my crafting approach I believe I have found an efficient way to use Rumination, at least before you get to Byregot's Blessing and other skills that make use of the big IQ stacks.

The idea is to finish chasing quality first on your craft, and only using the converted CP to finish the synthesis. You will need to calculate before hand how many CP/Durability you would need to finish the craft from 0 progress. This is in contrast to the approach of getting the craft ready and 1 step away from completion before chasing for quality in the remaining steps.

What I did is the usual rotation of:

  1. IQ -> Steady Hand II -> Hasty Touch (addressing Trick of Trade proc everytime it comes up as well).

  2. After hitting 20/80 or 10/70, Master's Mend II to get durability back to 80/80.

  3. I count how many Synth (Careful/Standard/etc) that I need to finish the craft (apply your cross class skill here). For example, if I need 6 Durability worth of CS II to finish, then I will aim to be able to use Master's Mend I at 30/80 so that I end up with 60/80. CP cost for Master's Mend I is 92 so you will need to be at least with 32 CP when you reach 30/80. So, you have until 30/80 durability to get your IQ stack to at least 10 and end up with enough Quality to HQ.

  4. I spend the remaining CP that I am able to use, usually for Great Strides. Great Strides + Hasty Touch on 7 stacks of IQ and above is pretty beefy upgrade in quality.

Usually I am able to get to 88% and above consistently which yields me the HQ end result. My CUL stats are at 325 Craftmanship and 335 Control at the moment. My meld is not yet complete and I only have the following cross-class skill:

  1. Careful Synthesis I & II.
  2. Steady Hand I & II.
  3. Hasty Touch.
  4. Tricks of Trade.
  5. Rumination.

Despite only having these, I was able to HQ Chilled Popoto Soup consistently even without HQ Popoto, HQ Pineapple Juice with 4 NQ Prickly Pineapple, etc. I was also able to do the HQ Sauteed Couerl for the master recipe book easily. So I am very much looking forward to experiment with Ingenuity, Manipulation, and Waste Not.

Do you think Ingenuity, Manipulation, and Waste Not can be used to help this rotation? Because I notice that some skills work against each other and is meant to be used in a contrasting approach.

Let me know what you think.

TL;DR

IMO Rumination is an excellent cross class skill which enabled me to HQ 2 star CUL recipe without fully melded at ~330 Control and Cratsmanship and normal mats. Looking forward to find if the other cross class skill can work together with Rumination so I can get my Artisan Spectacle! Let's discuss.

B-rank elite hunts (Naul, Skogs Fru, etc) are now going to work like this:

  • Pick up your weekly hunt bill.
  • Find the mark yourself (respawn timer is 5 seconds).
  • Don't call it out on a linkshell; most people won't care.
  • Kill it yourself, get 50 seals.
  • Ignore all B-ranks for the rest of the week.

Daily hunt bills (non-elite marks) also changed:

  • B-rank (normal monsters) reward increased from 1 seal to 4.
  • A-rank (FATE bosses) reward increased from 2 to 10.
  • 32 total seals per day.

[Issue fixed, see bottom of post]

When I try logging in, and this has been an issue for a few days now, the login part of the launcher is completely blank and fails to load. After a few minutes the launcher then errors:

It then closes after pressing "OK"

All my searches come up with it being IE settings, and from the beta. But none of what I found works. Setting IE internet options to "Automatically Detect Settings" does not work, especially since it's already on.

Any help with this issue will be appreciated.

Edit: Fiddling with Internet Explorer settings I managed to fix it. I had to go to the options->Internet Options->Advanced and find under "Security" and check the tickbox for "Allow software to run or install even if the signature is invalid" and as soon as I started the launcher after that, the login part appeared right away.

I asked about Scholar healing a few times on the daily thread, but had suggestions to move it to a separate thread for more input. I am hoping some career Scholars can help me out.

As background, I currently main WHM, but I desire to optimize both healing classes. I have researched a lot of Scholar, but much of the threads reach disagreements about how the class is best played. Many of these arguments center around Adlo use, MP Management, fairies, and the balance of DPS versus healing.

I understand the basic mechanics of the class, but all of the discussions have left me with a very unclear picture of what I should be doing as Scholar. WHM is much easier to decide how you are going to heal, but Scholar appears to be much more flexible and elusive.

Are there several legitimate ways to play the class? Why or why not?

I am i101 monk with the i110 weapon and on a dummy I can hit around 430-440 dps normally. I have hit over 450 before but only like twice. I have tried letting my dots run out and then refreshing and clipping at 8,6, and 3 seconds and I don't see much of a difference. Now I haven't fully tested letting dk and/or twin to fall off right before I refresh to see if that makes a difference. So I ask you what must I do to hit that sexy high dps? Character "stuck" in South Shroud crashing game

So here I am today in a hunt party running around when we get a notification that the A rank has spawned in South Shroud. I teleport to Quarymill because the hunt mob is only a few feet to the south west of that town. Once the zone loaded I summoned my chocobo and was able to to take about three steps before the game crashed to the desktop. At first I thought nothing of it, usually I can log right back in if something like this happens. Not this time. Each time I log back in, and select my Rezzo character, the zone starts to load and then the game crashes to the desktop.

Now here's the interesting part: If I log in and select an alternate character, that is on the same server but in a different zone, I have zero problems. I can run around on this other character in any zone I choose, (with the exception of South Shroud as I'm afraid to go back there until I can log back into Rezzo), without issue. But when I log back out to the title screen, then proceed to the character select screen and choose Rezzo, the South Shroud zone starts loading again and the game crashes to the desktop.

This issue did not happen until after the 2.35 patch that came out today.
