Forward: Please don't be fooled into thinking that I am unsatisfied with the current game or anything like that. Sure it could be better, but I am enjoying myself so I don't really care. What I am interested in, and the purpose of this post, is to generate discussion on the future of the game beyond what we know or have been told. I find thoughtful speculation to be fascinating, and such discussion might be refreshing among the many, sometimes redundant, threads about Titan or speedruns (not that they don't also serve a purpose).

My question is this; What do you think of future content or features that we have heard nothing or next to nothing about?

In an attempt to catalyze discussion I will mention a few of my own.

• Raising the Level Cap

• I am not as curious about when it might happen as to how the rest of the game's systems will react. I find it difficult to imagine that we will continue the current formula of skill - 2 levels - trait - 2 levels - repeat. That just seems like a **** load of skills to keep track of if you also include more cross-class skill slots. I think it makes sense to keep things un-muddled so maybe we only gain a few more job skills and then we just gain traits that continue to enhance our existing abilities. This may be completely unfounded of course. I have seen MMOs with metric *** tons of abilities that never really seemed to be a huge issue.

• Then of course come job progression with a raised level cap. The story lines for jobs, while not necessarily final, definitely had an air of closure about them. It wouldn't be too difficult to build new job story lines that we could quest through for new gear and skills, but it just sounds disjointed that way. I am curious to see what they do here.

• What about crafters and gatherers? How do you think they will be handeled with a higher level cap?

• Introducing New Classes and Jobs

• This is kind of a hot topic, with a new theory or graphic proposing class/job structures and systems cropping up what seems like every week (though they appear to have slowed down a bit recently). I don't really want to get into the hows and whats of it all, as I think the currently established system speaks for itself as far as the future of the system is concerned. I am very interested in when though. Do you think that new classes or jobs will be released in these big content updates every quarterish year or just in expansions?

• I am also interested in the class/jobs that the devs have hinted at but never really given any concrete data on. What do you think could be the trap-based class Yoshi P has mention before? How do you think it will function in the game as we know it? The only FF trap-based job I can think of is Ranger from tactics. I would assume that a trap-based class in FFXIV would have several ground-target skills that damage and debuff. The class might even alter party play a bit. Since the tank is usually charged with keeping the target still, does the class just drop traps at the target's feet? Or do new strategies emerge that involve preemptively laying a minefield that the tank drags the target through? What about Musketeer? Nothing has really been said on it, but why keep the guild in LL from 1.0 unless they plan to release the class at some point?

• Location, Location, Location

• What are your thoughts on the rest of Hydaelyn? Ishgard? Do you think we will ever be able to freely visit Garlemald (is that the right name)? What about expeditions into the Void or wherever the Ascians come from? Magical (or Magitech) underwater cities or dungeons?

• Other Goodies

• Mounts. What do you think will be the job-specific mounts for the rest of the jobs (or is it class specific? I'm not really interested in the unicorn so I don't know)?

• Vanity. Since we are getting a barber shop do you think that additional hair styles or tatoos will be preiodically released? Since we are getting a vanity gear system do you think that crafters mey be able to get recipies (maybe as drops or other rare loot) for vanity specific gear that offers no real stat benefit but looks good? Do you thing there will be a vanity slot for weapons?

• Miscellaneous Other Goodies. What do you think the upcomming dailies are going to entail? What about treasure hunt? What are some things you wonder about in regards to the unkown future of this game? What are your theories or anticipations? What are you excited about, despite knowing next to nothing about it (Musketeer for me)?
